Update 2 - Bug Fixes, Multipliers, Visuals, UI Updates, and more.


I'd consider this to be the biggest update yet, but not the biggest update planned! I wish I had a bit more time to add and fix a bit more before this release but I am not unhappy with it either. 

V2 is where we get to start to see some shape of a game.

  • Bugfix - Did you see socks going past you at a million miles a minute? Typo. Fixed. But some of you liked that apparently. So it might come back in some form. We shall see.
  • Bugfix - Stopped the "+10" from showing up at inappropriate times. I hope. Let me know if you notice something amiss. 
  • Changes - Options Menu is now Music Menu
  • Changes - Quit Button has moved to upper right (but not functional in itch build)
  • Changes - Music auto plays, and no longer loops itself, will loop all songs.
  • Changes - Silence button was removed. 
  • Changes - Background socks were slightly adjusted as it created a visual line that bothered me personally. 
  • Changes - Adjusted spawns, timing, speed. 
  • Changes - Adjusted Gunner's speed, and reaction to being hit. How does he feel for you? 
  • Changes - Instructions have moved to the new Settings Menu.
  • Changes/New - Bubble is bigger, has animation, and has a soft rainbow outline. 
  • Changes - Some UI adjustments to better fit new elements. Music Menu was completely redone to fit new tracks. 
  • Changes/New - Intro/Death text has been added to and changed. There is a bit more variety. Some is temporary. 
  • New - Settings Menu, totally new. 
  • New - Hit sound. I still want to rework the sounds themselves.
  • New - Difficult Multipliers! Let me know what you think, and yes, music mode (will be renamed when working correctly) isn't actually working as intended... use it for some free extra points. 
  • New - 7 new tracks were added from Three Red Hearts Prepare to Dev Album. I think these will work wonderfully with my planned music mode, but for now they are enjoyable to listen to as I play regardless. 
  • New - Lives. By default, you will have 3 now. On Unwashed Sock Mode, you will only have 1 life. 


This updates biggest struggles: Time. Also, Godot just didn't want cooperate with exporting the sound files properly for a bit. 

This updates biggest success: I can honestly say this is the first update of the game where I have had fun playing it. 


Plans for future updates 

In no order and not totally inclusive and if I mark them off now, doesn't mean I won't go back and revisit them later; 

  • Credits in game
  • Difficulty adjustments
  • Some visual bug fixes/improvements.
  • Better Instructions with their own dedicated button
  • Possible change or vary the loot
  • Add a bit of story to give the situation some context
  • Save function, which will come with the downloadable version returning
  • Difficultly modifiers, such as lives and more socks
  • Score multiplying events
  • More dialogue, opening and ending at very least.
  • More socks.
  • Additional levels, at minimum I am thinking some holiday themed ones such as Halloween. 
    • Levels would likely change background and socks themselves. 
    • I am not sure if they will be traditionally score based or other objective, ie collect 10 Ghosts, or some combination.
    • Levels may also be modes. Which will be different then the current multipliers. More on this next update though. 
  • Skins, do you want spoilers for the ones I am considering? Or how to unlock them?
  • Change death (all) sound(s), something fluffier?

As a note, I'll be putting up one small patch soon for credits but it might be a couple weeks otherwise without anything as I'll be participating in https://itch.io/jam/spring-sok-jam and my real life job has a very big project with a July 1 deadline. 

If there is a bug however, do not hesitate to let me know. I will not mind taking a bit of my time to patch something.
